TMU Chancellor met Ambassador of Finland


At a joint meeting between TMU's chancellor and the Finnish ambassador to Tehran, held on September 18, and attended by faculty members from the faculties of art, biological sciences, humanities and medical sciences, both parties emphasized the expansion of scientific ties.

At the beginning of the meeting, Finland's Ambassador to Tehran who was visiting TMU for the second time, referred to TMU’s ranking, the number of its Ph.D. students and worldly-famous graduates such as Asghar Farhadi as some of its important features. He offered direct contact and operational plans with Tampere University.

Referring to the strategic plan and the goals of the university, Dr. Ahmadi, TMU chancellor, said: "Despite the global conditions that are affecting our university, it continues to grow and evolve. One of the goals of Tarbiat Modares University is to promote its world rank and become one of the world's top 200 universities”.

He pointed to the development of cooperation on the positive peace as well as the successful experience of the Scandinavian countries, in particular Finland, and asked for the cooperation in the field of biological sciences and art.

The chancellor of the university also appreciated his meeting with Deputy Minister of Higher Education of Finland taking place during 2017 Science and Technology Summit, meeting with Doctor Lecso, the then president of the University of Tampere and the translation of “the book of the kings” into Finnish by Professor Jacob Hamin Antilla.

In another part of this meeting, Dr. Saeedi proposed co-operating with Finnish universities and offering of short-term programs to students.

Dr. Mousavi Shafaee talked about holding a Seminar on Positive Peacekeeping and implementation of Memorandum of Understanding with Tampere University, Dr. Tamjid, talked about collaborating in the field of life sciences and conducting research activities, Dr. Mahdavi Nejad stressed the establishment of a joint workshop with Finnish participants and the definition of a joint project and Dr. Azizi proposed the conducting of a collaborative project in the field of medicine based on the ability of Ph.D. students at the Faculty of Medicine.

At the end of the meeting, the Finnish ambassador visited the laboratories of the Faculty of Biological Sciences and Medical Sciences.
